wandering about: dempsey hill

As promised, we are back with a 'follow us while we discover a random part of Singapore' post! (we really need to think of a better name for that).

This time, we found ourselves in the highly secluded and hard-to-reach Dempsey Hill area. We had since decided after the fail outing that had us neglecting Candrielle-ing (can we make this a term?) in favour of more... retail-orientated pursuits that it would not be wise to locate our sartorial endeavours in the vicinity of any form shopping. As such, after much careful consideration (not really), we ended up here to experience the life of upper-class Singaporeans through indulging in scrumptious food and overpriced water (see below).

P.S. Cafe Harding Road

Our first stop was to P.S. Cafe for lunch. We decided on the truffle fries, Lulu's 'Leftovers' Lasagna (Candy's) and the rocket salad with figs, blue cheese and porsciutto ham (Gabi's), all of which were very delicious and left us extremely stuffed, which also meant that we couldn't try any of their desserts (what a bummer). The restaurant itself is situated in a building with massive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking lush greenery which we promptly headed to take a gander at after our meal.

Margarita's
The heat was simply unbearable after awhile so we retreated into Margarita's for, you guessed it, frozen margaritas which were absolutely heavenly and perfect to cool off with. We couldn't stay in there for long as they were closing in half an hour and were somewhat rushing us to get out, which, I have to say, did dampen our experience there quite a bit.

Our last stop was to Jones The Grocer just opposite Margarita's to purchase some Voss water as per Candy's request ( a hipster's gotta do what a hipsters gotta do to be hipster, right?). Apparently it's popular on tumblr to fill (specifically) Voss bottles with various fruits/vegetables and iced water. Unfortunately, just after a mere 5 minutes of owning my very own hipster bottle, I managed to break the cap off... typical.

As the day drew to a close, we managed to get in a few more shots on the stairs to House. We swiftly brisk walked through the premises whilst waiting for the shuttle bus that would bring us back to town and managed to get a glimpse of that famously well adorned spread of food that House is so famous for.

...

Why hello kind person. Thanks for making it all the way down to the end of the post. We really hope that you've enjoyed this post and much as we have creating it. Here's a heads up on what you'll be seeing on the Candrielle-o-sphere, we're letting you in on a secret project if you will- we have our own YouTube channel! There's not much up there right now as it's still very much a work in progress but do expect to see some content up there soon :)
